Hello! My name is Bob. I shot my mouth off and now I’m writing the newsletter. “What newsletter” you say? The Amory’s Tomb Newsletter, of course! And this is the latest edition. Here’s what’s up at your favorite brewery:
It’s the perfect time for a newsletter though because after months of huddling around the heaters and/or soaking in cold rain, the leaves are out and the air is warm. It’s finally here. It really is Beer Garden Season! Here’s what’s going on at AT:
Ben’s Raclette June Pop-Ups
Ben will be back with his delicious cheesy baguettes on both Thusday and Saturday evenings this week. Raclette is tough to make happen in the summer heat, so be sure to come grab some gooey melts while you can!
Taco Fridays Are A Phenomenon
(BUT CATCH THEM ON THURSDAY THIS WEEK!)
What’s the hottest new event in Maynard? Taco Fridays at the Amory’s Tomb Beer Garden!
Now if you ask me, every day is a good day for tacos! But the reason Fridays have become the day for tacos at the Beer Garden is because the Perico’s Taqueria truck is there! Their tacos and tostadas have been drawing large crowds and rave reviews.
To nobody’s surprise, Pericos’ flavorful meat, fresh sauces and corn tortillas pair very well with locally brewed Saisons and (of course!) Man Bun Pilsner. I can’t choose my favorite so I get one of each! I mean the tacos, not the beer!
The Taco Fridays have been so successful that Pericos’s plans to be back every Friday for the rest of the summer. I hope Allen and Rick have enough beer!
Now, with all that said, Perico’s will be here Thursday from noon to 9 pm on Jun 27 due to a conflict on Friday.
A New Farmhouse Ale Released
A brand new Amory’s Tomb farmhouse ale, Quiet Neighbors, is now on tap in the beer garden. Quiet Neighbors is a Rustic ale brewed with Blue Ox Malthouse Yankee Pils, Danko Rye, Aurora Mills Organic Flaked Oats & Spelt, NZ Motueka, and three unique Farmhouse Ale Cultures.
Personally, I would describe it as tasting like the Saison I - The Classic with the funkiness dialed up just a bit. It’s still an approachable entry point into the entire world of Amory’s Tomb Saisons, and definitely worth your time to check out.
I think Allen and Rick have a typo in the name though. The official name on the menu is “Quiet Neighbors”. But surely the name is supposed to be “Quiet, Neighbors!”, a reference to the reaction from the rest of Main Street to last summer’s Nest of Infection release party in the Beer Garden. Punctuation is important!
This beer will be rotating through the fraught list over the next few weeks so be sure to grab a pour while you can!
Advancement of Interests V Released
The Advancement of Interests beers are a collaboration between 3 breweries - Amory’s Tomb, Lost Shoe and Time & Materials. All Advancement of Interest beers are barrel-aged beers that are “cocktail inspired”, meaning they evoke cocktails but are still very much beers.
Here’s the thing about the Advancement of Interest beers - each one is a unique beer that tends to be quite different from its predecessors. Just like how every Taylor Swift album is different from its predecessors!
Unlike the latest Tay Tay release, Post Malone did not collaborate on Advancement of Interests V. For this we should all be thankful! We should also be thankful that Advancement of Interests V is a worthy addition to the name. It’s a blend of Barrel-aged Belgian Strong Ale with Blackberries & Mint, refermented with mixed cultures.
Last Chance to Put Your Name on the Dead Sparrow Society Waitlist
The Dead Sparrow Society is Amory’s Tomb’s beer subscription club. I’ve been in it since last year, and the beers that have been released so far have been really creative and fantastic. They are all barrel-aged with various fruits and other ingredients added.
To me what makes many of the DSS beers special is that more than a few times my reaction has been “this is great, and I don’t think I could imagine tasting a beer like this from any other brewery”. The beers all have awesome names too, with “Such Unkindly Raven” currently holding the crown for best name. Plus you get a t-shirt!
This year’s version of the DSS is fully subscribed, but Allen and Rick definitely want to add names to the waitlist. Sometimes people drop out during the year, and also from one year to the next there will be a bit of turnover as their was from 2023 to 2024. If you are not in the DSS already, I can’t recommend heavily enough that you get your name on that waitlist!
This weekend, Jun 29 & 30 will also bring in the the 9th release for the 2023 Members, all members are welcome to bring themselves and a guest for special cask and bottle pours all weekend!
