MAYNARD, MA – Amory’s Tomb Brewing Co. today announced a voluntary recall of 16oz cans, and kegs of Man Bun Pilsner packaged at Riverwalk Brewing Company in July 2023 due to the presence of a foreign yeast or bacteria in some cans and kegs that may cause off-flavors, aroma or turbidity under certain storage conditions. The recall comes after regular sensory analysis by the brewery indicated a quality concern and external third-party analysis confirmed the presence of a potential contaminant that could cause unexpected and rapid degradation of the product, particularly when stored above 65ºF. Beers affected by the recall were distributed in Massachusetts and Rhode Island by Homegrown Distribution and Amory’s Tomb and sold under the Amory’s Tomb Brewing Co. brand name. Affected cans are marked 07/21/2023 and AT-MBP on the bottom of the can in black ink.

“We take both product quality and consumer safety extremely seriously,” said Allen Quinn, Co-Founder of Amory’s Tomb Brewing Co. “We discovered a potential concern and immediately took action. We are issuing this voluntary recall because we want to make sure our customers are receiving only the highest quality products, ones we can all be proud of together. We are working closely with our distributor and manufacturing partners to replace the beer with non-affected batches as quickly as possible.”

To date, there are no consumer reports of issues with the beer being recalled. We do not believe there are any consumption risks associated with the foreign yeast or bacteria, although some cans or kegs may exhibit a varying degree of off-flavors or aroma. Since its discovery through regular sensory analysis, the brewery has taken immediate steps to improve testing and prevent any further issues in production and packaging. The original source of the contaminant is still under investigation

Consumers who have recently purchased the beer identified in this release are encouraged to dispose of any affected product and are entitled to refund, exchange or brewery voucher. To request a replacement or refund, please visit the brewery directly or contact recall@amorystomb.com with a description of the product, quantity purchased and purchase location. No other Amory’s Tomb Brewing Co. beers, other than those listed in this release, are affected by this recall.
